Snow day!
Today we are both working at home, all cozily tucked in away from the snow. I made popovers from the recipe in Baking With Julia, and they were extremely delicious but otherwise a failure: despite my lavish buttering, they stuck firmly in the pan, and they were generally rather shrunken and sad looking. I think the problem comes from the fact that no one seems to believe in the existence of popover tins anymore. I have one, but recipes unfortunately tend to assume that these fine items are extinct and provide directions for every possible substitute but never the thing itself. The result is that I have to do my best to extrapolate backwards, and I am not always so clever at that.
So, note to self for next time: try using a crazy overkill pan spray like Baker's Joy and put 1/2 c. of batter in each cup.
