"Then why don't you eat something?" she asked.
"It's no use," said the Tiger sadly. "I've tried that, but I always get hungry again."

Dinner and a movie

Little Dead Girl still has nothing to do with food, but a little more of her story is available at this time, nonetheless.

Tonight we had dinner and a movie, just like a real date. The movie was Holiday, at the newly opened Silver Theater, and dinner was at our old favorite My Le. Downtown Silver Spring is really sprucing up these days, just as they were promising when we moved into the area. I hope it manages to teeter happily on the edge of gentrification without tumbling over onto either side. Leave the high end to Bethesda, and away from me, please. I'm a little nervous about the big old multiplex mit Borders bookstore and 1,700 parking spaces that is going up next, but maybe it will be okay. Certainly there are many independent and un-chichi storefronts nearby that could benefit from the additional foot traffic, and when we first moved here, I found the whole area extremely depressing. Not because it was too slummy for my delicate sensibilities, but because it seemed like just... nothing. But I'm not entirely sure to what degree my ability to find worthy stuff is related to the "revitalization," as opposed to simply developing the skill of reading this kind of semi-urban layout. We'll see.
