« Plop plop fizz fizz | Ginger is good »
I want to write more about food in Spain, and I will, soon, I promise. But right now I'm a little preoccupied by wedding stuff (only five days away, good heavens), so instead I'm just going to give you the menu for our reception. It's utterly aloha amigo-san, as we say, and all vegetarian. I hope I get to eat some, though I've heard this is not so much what happens at one's own wedding. The descriptions are all in our caterers' wording, because I am lazy, and anyway, why not?
First, some passed hors d'oeuvres:
- Cucumber mango maki rolls with soy sauce, pickled ginger and wasabi
- Sesame eggplant satay with teriyaki dipping sauce
- Spinach and mushroom dumplings with red pepper dipping sauce
- Inari bean curd pouches with sushi rice
Next, stations of nibbles and more dinner-y things. There's no assigned seating, because who really enjoys assigned seats anyway?
On one side, the "Mediterranean station":
- Portobello lasagna with spinach and red peppers with herbed cream sauce
- Spring greens with teardrop tomatoes, chopped cucumbers, chopped fennel and roasted shallot vinaigrette
- Marinated olives, artichokes, roasted red peppers
- Assortment of domestic and imported cheeses with grapes and crackers
- White bean salad
- Fresh mozzarella and sliced tomatoes with fresh basil and olive oil
- Basket of cut breads
On the other side, the "Mexican station":
- Chick pea chili burritos
- Denita burritos - black bean mashers, parmesan cheese, roasted corn, spicy
spinach, and portobellos - Potato taquitos
- Super veggie quesadillas
- Salsa, guacamole, sour cream
- Tortilla chips
Fresh juice, soft drinks, and champagne (no, sparkling wine!) to go with, plus tea and coffee. Burnt almond torte for the cake.
