Monster artichoke

Tonight for dinner we had nothing but a giant artichoke apiece, with garlic mayonnaise. It was plenty of food, I'll tell you what, and tasty! Plus the whole thing only cost about $2.75, and that's counting the garlic and the mayonnaise. Who could ask for anything more?

Oh, Lord, that sounds good.
And WAY enough for dinner.
But I have a problem, now I'm in Pittsburgh -- 12 years out of the Bay Area and I still can't bring myself to buy artichokes that cost more than 33 cents apiece.
I'm not in artichoke country anymore, alas. But I just can't believe it.
Maybe I'll give in soon. Sometimes I do.
