"Then why don't you eat something?" she asked.
"It's no use," said the Tiger sadly. "I've tried that, but I always get hungry again."

Archives save the party day

Tomorrow we are having a cookout-into-cocktails event, and I was very pleased to find that I had written such a complete account of the things I prepared for a similar kind of event last year. I remembered that the preparations for that one were particularly un-exhausting and that the guests and we all enjoyed ourselves and there was plenty to eat. So for the indoor component of the event, I am pretty much replicating the menu from last time around, with the addition of a Greek-ish salad (chopped romaine lettuce and cucumber, fine slices of onion, feta cheese, and lemon vinegarette) and the substitution of Spanish roast red pepper for the tomatoes in the basil and mozzarella salad, since tomatoes are not so much in season right now.

The cookout bit will be simple, as cookouts are supposed to be. S. is in charge of that, which has mainly involved procurement. There is a "Smokey Joe" Weber. I am making my potato salad. There will be veggie burgers. Someone, I think, is bringing real meat sausage. Wavy Lays, the king of ruffled potato chips, will be present in plenty. The chopped salad will probably put in an appearance as well. Cider and beer will be in a cooler. You get the picture.

SPECIAL NOTE TO AMY: We are dummies and did not send you an email about this event, which was all very short notice. But if you see this and are magically free, please call us and/or just come over.

Ooo, damn I missed it! Actually, we were up in PA volunteering at the Fairie Festival all weekend. Even though I just ate dinner I am drooling at what I know was a fantastic menu.

Also, I realized this week, while cleaning out my mailbox, that I seem to have ignored an invite from S to see a show. I apologize!
