« Tidbits | More on ratatouille »
Looked at this week's heaping bag of lovely, lovely produce and promptly thought: Oh! That's why God invented ratatouille! And gazpacho. (I already knew several reasons why God invented caprese.) So lots of the above this week. I'm making the ratatouille right now, using Julia Child's recipe.
The squash are not actually zucchini but some pale green giant pattypan squash I like much better. Regardless, it's a good thing I always lay in plenty of good olive oil. The current 3L can is a nice organic oil. I think when we go to Italy this fall, I'll have to bring an extra suitcase just to fill with olive oil, impractical though that certainly will be.

They really are fantastic, even when they get big, and they don't get feeble and watery, even when they're stewed. Pattypan forever!

Oh, God, I love pattypan squash -- and I'd entirely forgotten them till you mentioned them.
Where are the damn patty pan squash! Must go back to the store and see if I can find some.
