"Then why don't you eat something?" she asked.
"It's no use," said the Tiger sadly. "I've tried that, but I always get hungry again."

Soup redux

Lentil soup again! We have eaten other things in the interim -- yesterday, for example, I went on a spree and made both the green beans and another recipe from the Paula Wolfert cookbook (for vinegary eggplant) and a frittata containing some of the basil I froze back in the days when there was TOO MUCH FRESH BASIL TO EAT, inconceivable though that seems now.

It was all very good, and there are plenty of leftovers, even after S. took some for his lunch. But tonight it was lentil soup, just exactly like the soup I described in the last entry. Except I forgot the bay leaves, alas. It was still just dandy without them, but I like to think there was something missing. (Do you suppose there really was?)
