Last night we went to our favorite little local Salvedorean restaurant, which we had not visited in a while. The floor manager greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm and told me that I could still order my favorite plate (the "vegetarian huanaco," which has rice and plantains and beans and yucca root and a sweet tamale) even though it isn't on the menu anymore. This made me very happy.
This weekend we are headed off to Pittsburgh to do wedding stuff. In general, I do not expect these activities to be especially fun, but we do get to talk to the caterers, so I should have food things to report back on after our return. I'm looking forward to picking all the many tasty treats, and hoping that the fact that we have a fairly teeny guest list will save us from truly terrifying costs. It looks like our cake will have to be bigger than we actually need, because we want the bakery to deliver it, and they have a minimum size for that, but hey, whoever complained because there was too much cake? Not I.
