Today I will tell an excellent story that is not my own, and is really only glancingly related to food, but it is a good story, and it is not even very long, so you are getting it anyway, and you will like it. So there.
Once upon a time, my friend A. was sitting in a place where there were many pigeons. People were feeding the pigeons. How boldly and happily the pigeons trotted up to the people to fetch their crumbs. How docile and fearless they were. "Wow!" thought A., suddenly. "You could do that with all kinds of animals! You could get them all used to eating your food and then if you ever wanted an animal to eat, you could just reach out and grab one... oh."
And that is the story of how A. invented the domestication of animals. I find it comforting to know that we would not have had to live without it if the original inventor had, say, met an untimely death at the sabre teeth of some sabre-toothed tiger. She will lead us to a bright new Neolithic Era!
