« Lentils lentils lentils | Salty! Crunchy! Out of stock! »
Finally we are in town on an August Sunday, and have partaken of the farmer's market. Tomatoes, corn, basil, plums! (Also, the fiscal year has turned. Hooray!)
I have always hated blue (or bleu) cheese, but while I was in England, I discovered that I actually enjoy a very mild Stilton. Wonders may never cease.
We are now the proud owners of an actual toaster oven, which means that I can have cheesy toasts at a moment's notice. I'm looking forward to the painless morning brioches, as well. Now if only I had a lovely back porch where I might sit and eat them. Many years ago, I thought toaster ovens were a mysterious appliance designed only for people with no proper kitchen, on the order of a hot plate. I have since realized that there are about a million things I like to do with my oven that could be done much more quickly and energy-efficiently with a toaster oven, and without heating up the whole apartment, too.
